The requirements seem to make it so students must explore subjects outside of what they think they just need for their major. For undeclared students, this is helpful and exposes them to areas that they may never have thought of before. These requirements go along with my personal plan of exploring different subjects as much as I can before declaring my major. At the same time, it seems like having requirements would prevent students who know what they want to do from taking all of the classes they want to take as they are working to meet the requirements. Overall, the requirements create students that are well rounded and that have experience and knowledge in subjects that may not have to do with their major.
